Muay Thai, translated to English as “Thai Boxing”, is the National sport of Thailand. It is also referred to as the “Art of Eight Limbs” because, unlike Western Boxing which only uses two fists, Muay Thai involves using one’s punches, kicks, elbows, and knees to create eight points of contact. Muay thai also differs from the other striking arts of kickboxing and boxing by utilizing many different clinching techniques to create openings for all the eight weapons. In class, students will learn proper striking technique as well as blocking, movement and timing all while getting a great work out!

Boxing-All Levels: All levels welcome! Boxing fundamentals such as stance, basic punches/combinations, footwork, and the beginnings of defense will be taught. Outside of the fundamentals, you will get an excellent workout through drills and exercises developed to improve conditioning and muscular endurance. Beneficial not only for those looking to build a strong foundation for boxing, but for those who wish to improve in other sports and overall fitness and health.
Pro Boxing (coach approval required): Must have coach approval before attending pro Boxing sessions. this session builds on the foundation established in Beginner's Boxing, while adding more advanced footwork and intricate combination punching. This class also takes you further into defense and counter punching. The conditioning aspects become more difficult to keep challenging students.

In the early 1990’s the UFC and the Gracie family burst onto the scene with “No Rules” fighting and immediately put into question the effectiveness of many traditional martial art styles. Although the original competitions were highly criticized as being barbaric and scrutinized by politicians, they did teach one very important lesson: the best martial art style was not having ONE, but instead a blend of several arts including striking, wrestling, and submissions. Northern Illinois Combat Club offers MMA classes for Beginners as well as Advanced students. In addition to MMA classes, MMA students are also encouraged to train in Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu classes to develop both striking and grappling skills.

The Youth Sports Scholastic Training Program is designed to provide young athletes with the tools they need to enhance their skills, improve their physical fitness, and develop a new understanding of the sport they love, while being challenged “outside of their comfort zone”. We emphasize fun, teamwork, and sportsmanship while delivering a high level of professional instruction. Our goal is to create a positive and structured environment where youth can thrive athletically and personally. Tailored one-on-one or small group coaching for athletes seeking specific skill enhancement.

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate (Custom programs can be developed for advanced athletes)
